+Motivated by our call for support in the past year, we saw an overwhelming wave of donations brought together, which made it possible to continue and secure the operation of the free service jabber.ccc.de.

+A sum of € 5,000 was raised after the [call for
+donations](http://web.jabber.ccc.de/?p=13). The majority of the funds
+were used to purchase new hardware (1HE, Intel Core 2 Quad, 8 GByte RAM,
+320 GByte in RAID 1 – along with an UPS).
+
+jabber.ccc.de currently houses 37,000 active users, with about 50 - 100
+new additional users daily and up to 4,100 users online at any given
+time throughout the day.
+
+The new server is running under Linux 2.6.18 (64bit of course), speaks
+XMPP with the help of an ejabberd 1.1.4 and has currently got a load of
+0.8. This leaves enough room for a growing community.
+
+We are overwhelmed with the willingness of users in participating in the
+support of a free communication infrastructure and are delighted to be
+involved with a community where we can work together to help a project
+such as jabber.ccc.de off the ground.
